We believe that to truly be a member of a community, you need to give back in some way.
In addition to volunteering with various groups, we donate $100 of our $595 fee to one of the following non-profit organizations each time a loan closes. Please follow the links to more information about the individual non-profit.
- Growing Gardens - Growing Gardens brings organic food gardening to the doorsteps of thousands of limited-income families and individuals across Portland. Home gardeners in their program receive garden beds or containers at home and 3 years of meaningful support.
- Friends of Trees - Friends of Trees inspires community stewardship of our urban forest by bringing people in the Portland area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas. Since 1989, Friends of Trees has planted more than $340,000 trees and shrubs in the Portland-Vancouver area. This year more than 2,000 volunteers will plant nearly 23,000 trees and native plants.
- Cascade AIDS Project - CAP helps nearly 2,000 people with HIV in Oregon and Southwest Washington yearly. They provide housing and assistance programs, legal services, education and the Oregon AIDS Hotline.
- Dove Lewis - Dove Lewis is a 24 hour emergency and ICU animal hospital. They also provide a blood bank, animal assisted therapy and education, pet loss support, and stray animal and wildlife care.
- Oregon Food Bank - Oregon Food Bank distributes food donated throughout a statewide network of more than 870 nonprofit, hunger relief agencies serving Oregon and Clark County, Washington. The organization works to eliminate the root causes of hunger through education and advocacy.
- Three Rivers Land Conservancy - Three Rivers is a non-profit whose mission is to preserve the natural areas in the Clackamas, Tualatin and Willamette River watershed. They also connect these natural areas by trails. They have protected over 360 local acres so far.
- The Raphael House of Portland - Raphael house provides shelter for more than 500 women and children each year. They also provide a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter and long-term transitional housing. Eighty-two percent of women who leave Raphael House do not return to their abuser.
- Mercy Corps - Mercy Corps works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people. With 3,500 staff worldwide, they reach 16.4 million people in more than 35 countries. Over the past five years, more than 89 percent of the agency's resources have been allocated directly to programs that help people in need.
