Jen Bell may not have been born with her I-can-do-anything attitude. But after nearly a decade of serving in the United States Navy and taking on every challenge she was handed, she has an enviable level of confidence. In fact, Jen is willing to try her luck at just about anything new. (She's never been skydiving but if you geared her up and put her in a plane, she'd jump.)

During her stint in the Navy, she served as an electrician and was also the training officer in charge of the fiscal planning for sending 200 reservists on their annual trainings. After almost a decade of military success, Jen was searching for a new career path. Jen recalls, "My brother started his own mortgage company, and he kept saying that he thought I'd be really great at it. I started shadowing him one day a week, and before I knew it, I was working as a loan officer and a processor for two other loan officers."

When Jen found out about Rose City Mortgage, she gravitated toward the company. "Rose City is all about empowering people-especially women and the gay community-to achieve their goals. It was a natural fit for me."

When she's not working, Jen and her wife, Maggie get their adrenaline pumping with extreme sports like snowboarding and bungee jumping. Jen is also a dedicated horse enthusiast. She even adopted a wild Mustang, Tracer, from the Bureau of Land Management. "He was as wild as a deer when I got him, and I made it my goal to ride him within 30 days of adopting him. I rode him on the 21st day," says Jen. Rather than using intimidation, Jen uses unconventional methods that rely on communicating with the animal and "asking" them to do things rather than forcing them.

Jen is a natural communicator and she has a passion for using positive energy to help people achieve their dreams. If you'd like her to help you find the right loan for the right home, give Jen a call at 503.939.4130 or email her at jen@rosecitymtg.com.
